Anne-Sophie recently joined the Blocktrade team as Head of Legal. As an experienced business lawyer in the financial sector, she is excited to work in the dynamic and rapidly evolving ecosystem Blocktrade is involved in, while contributing her legal expertise to promote Blocktrade’s success.
We wanted to give you an opportunity to learn more about our team members, which is why we sat down with Anne-Sophie to talk about her experience, motivations and her vision for Blocktrade. In the process, we learnt about her love for photography and sailing.
Anne-Sophie, please tell us about your professional background. What stages has your career consisted of so far?
In 2011, I graduated with a Master’s degree in International Business Law from the University of Burgundy in France, where I specialised in contract law and international private law.
The same year, I started working in the financial sector in Luxembourg, mixing in-house and service provider experience and deepening my knowledge in corporate law, data protection, negotiation and drafting of contracts.
Can you give us an insight into your workday and responsibilities?
I currently hold the position of Head of Legal at Blocktrade S.A. in Luxembourg, covering all aspects relating to agreements negotiation, terms and conditions of the platform, litigation management but also corporate governance and capital markets regulations.
My responsibilities also include legal expertise about regulations pertaining to payment services, banking, electronic money institutions and virtual assets.
You recently joined the Blocktrade team. What do you enjoy the most about working at Blocktrade?
I have a strong interest in new technologies and innovations, especially applications of blockchain technology such as cryptocurrencies. Mixing a passion and my day-to-day work is something I feel very privileged to be able to do.
Moreover, there is a lot of potential in working for a start-up: Being amongst the first employees means having a close relationship with your colleagues. It also offers the chance to build something special as a small group which I find particularly exciting.
Let’s project ourselves into the future. What do you envision for the future of Blocktrade?
I think Blocktrade can be a user-friendly platform for crypto-investors and traders of all ages. This ranges from casual traders to those who are professionals. Not only will experienced users be able to practice and implement their knowledge, but newcomers can develop a stronger foundation of financial knowledge before gaining the confidence to utilise their wealth.
How do you spend your time when you are not dealing with legal matters? What is your recipe for a healthy work-life balance?
During my spare time I love being out in the open and using this as an opportunity to indulge in photography. Yet, what I enjoy above all else, is traveling around the world and experiencing new cultures. I enjoy being close to nature and especially by the sea, where I love boating and sailing.
