The Blocktrade Team: Douglas McGuire

Douglas McGuire recently joined Blocktrade. As a young professional with a background in financial economics, he is looking forward to applying his knowledge and thereby contributing to Blocktrade’s success. 

To introduce you to the team working tirelessly on the growth of Blocktrade, we sat down with Douglas and asked him how he is supporting Bernhard Blaha and the team, his vision for Blocktrade and his passion for music. 

Douglas, tell us about your professional background. What have you been doing for the last few years? 

In 2018 I graduated as a post-graduate scholar in Quantitative Financial Economics, after studying Mathematics at an undergraduate level, both attained at the University of East Anglia in my home country of England. I have previously worked in the Luxembourgish financial sector with experience in administration whilst also holding several years’ experience as a private tutor in the UK, specialising in mathematics and sciences. 

In which role do you work at Blocktrade and what are your daily responsibilities? 

Currently, I hold the position of Operative Assistant at Blocktrade SA in Luxembourg, occupying a variety of responsibilities – from assisting in administrative procedures and customer service, to aiding other departments with tasks such as content production and client financial education. Being one of the first employees of Blocktrade SA in Luxembourg, I expect my role to become more technical and refined over the coming months, the more the team grows. 

What do you most enjoy working for Blocktrade? 

Blocktrade is a young and quickly developing company, where the potential for growth is as exciting as it is challenging. I am very much enjoying being a part of the development for a platform that takes pride in providing a safe and user-friendly crypto exchange whilst also placing a great emphasis on financial education and know-how for its userbase.

Let’s take a look into the future, what is your personal outlook for Blocktrade? 

I believe Blocktrade can soon be the go-to platform engineered specifically for the great number of people who are interested in investing/trading in cryptocurrencies and digital assets, but do not yet have the necessary knowledge to do so successfully. There is clearly a market for a place for people who are seeking a secure platform to learn from and implement their newly found financial knowledge – and with a diversely talented and multi-cultural team, Blocktrade can soon be that platform.

What do you like to do in your free time? How do you balance work and life? 

In my downtime, I like to follow sport – especially football, but my ultimate passion is music. I’ve been a musician for most of my life and love writing, recording and producing original music. At least for me, music is indeed the food of life.
